Jack'd uses Apple TestFlight to distribute beta versions to testers. While TestFlight is a huge improvement for distributing beta apps over the system that preceded it, there are still some quirks. This document discusses the most common problems, and likely solutions.
If you are participating in one of our iOS beta programs, you will have been sent an email from TestFlight. If you have not received an email like the above within 24 hours of receiving a beta program welcome email from Jack'd:
1. Check your spam folder. The TestFlight invitation is sent from email@example.com, which sometimes gets mistaken as a spam address.
2. Verify that you don’t have any inbound email filters that might route the invitation somewhere other than your inbox.
3. If you still cannot locate the email, please respond to the Jack'd beta program welcome email and to let us know that you did not get at TestFlight invitation.
If the TestFlight app does not launch, make sure TestFlight is installed. If it is not installed, it can be installed from the iTunes App Store. Either search for TestFlight in the App Store, or tap the link below:
If TestFlight is installed but doesn’t launch, and you are using a email client other than the iOS Mail app, please read the relevant section further below.
If you see "Sign In" when TestFlight is launched (either from the home screen or after tapping the “View in TestFlight” button in the invitation, it means you are not currently signed into your Apple ID. For the invitation to be accepted, you must be signed into the Apple ID under which you installed TestFlight. To do this:
1. Tap “Sign in” on the TestFlight launch screen.
2. Tap “Use Existing Apple ID” from the menu that appears.
3. Sign in to your Apple ID using the appropriate email and password.
4. If the login is successful, TestFlight should launch and Jack'd should be an install option.
One of the most common TestFlight issues can occur when the invitation email is opened in a client other than the iOS Mail app (e.g. Gmail). Sometimes non-Apple mail clients are unable to convey all of the necessary information TestFlight needs to associate the email address to which the invite was sent with the AppleID it expects to see.
If you cannot open the email in the iOS Mail app, the most likely solution is to copy the URL for the “Open in TestFlight” button and then paste it into mobile Safari.
1. In your email app, tap and holding on the “View in TestFlight” button. In a moment, a menu should be displayed that allows you to copy the underlying link into the device clipboard.
2. Tap “Copy”.
3. Tap the Home button on the device to go back to the home screen.
4. Open Safari.
5. Tap and hold over the web address entry field for a moment, and then tap “Paste and Go” from the menu that appears (In some cases, you may need to paste and then tap Go from the device keyboard).
6. You should be presented with a prompt to open the page in TestFlight. Tap Open:
7. This should open TestFlight and present Jack'd along with an opportunity to Accept the invitation and install the app.
TestFlight-distributed beta versions of Jack'd should be able to install over an earlier version of Jack'd. If the install doesn’t complete, try deleting the earlier version of Jack'd before attempting to install the TestFlight version.
Before you delete the earlier version, make sure you know the email and password associated with your Jack'd account, as you will need to log in to it after installing the beta version.
- You can find out the email associated with your Jack'd account via Settings > Profile Editor > Email.
- If you don’t remember the password, you can set a new one at any time via Settings > Profile Editor > Password.
Please respond to the Jack'd Beta email invite you received describing your issue.
In rare cases, we are unable to resolve TestFlight issues. If this is the case, you should be able to continue using the current version of Jack'd or (if it no longer opens), delete it and re-install the version of Jack'd available on the iTunes App Store.
